MY STORY

I'm Tahnee — a public health consultant and social researcher based in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. At its simplest, I help organisations design programs that make a difference, and understand the difference they make.

Sometimes that means designing a program from the ground up. Sometimes it's talking to communities and stakeholders to understand what's really happening on the ground. It might mean developing an evaluation, running interviews or focus groups, facilitating a workshop, making sense of a pile of qualitative data, or helping a team work out what to actually do with what they've learned.

My background spans public health, nutrition, mental health, social prescribing, behaviour change and community-based care. While these are areas I know particularly well, the skills I bring are highly transferable. At the heart of most of my work are the same questions: What do people need? What will work in the real world? How do we implement it well? And how will we know whether it made a difference?

I'm particularly drawn to work that tackles complex social and health problems — especially projects focused on prevention, health equity, mental health, social connection and creating systems that work better for the people using them. I care about good evidence, but I care just as much about whether something is practical, useful and possible to implement outside of a report.

And I genuinely like getting stuck into the work. I love a big, meaty project that I can sink my teeth into and help steer from beginning to end. But I'm equally happy coming along for one part of the ride — facilitating the co-design workshop, conducting the interviews, developing the evaluation framework, providing an extra pair of experienced hands when a team is stretched, or helping turn findings into action.

That means there's no single way to work with me. I work as a project lead, subcontractor, specialist collaborator, extra capacity during busy periods, or an ongoing extension of a team through a retainer. Some engagements last a few weeks; others evolve over months or years.

Most importantly, I like working with people rather than disappearing into a consulting black box. I'm curious, collaborative and practical, and I value the relationships that develop around good work. Some of my favourite projects are the ones where I become part of the team for a while.

I'm also neurodivergent, which has shaped the way I think about people, behaviour and systems. It gives me a personal stake in questions of inclusion — particularly the often invisible ways that systems, services and environments can either make it easier for people to participate or quietly shut them out.

Ultimately, I want the work I do to be rigorous enough to stand up, practical enough to use, and human enough to matter.

HOW WE WORK

Small by design. Deep by nature.

We're a small, independent consultancy and that's entirely intentional.

When a project needs specialist skills we don't hold in-house, we bring in trusted independent consultants and boutique firms we know well. People we've worked alongside, whose approach aligns with ours, and whose quality we can stand behind. You get a capable, tailored team without the overhead or impersonal machinery of a large firm.

Every project gets our genuine attention. We take the time to deeply understand your organisation, your context, the people you're trying to reach, and what success actually looks like for you before we do anything else.

We don't rinse and repeat. We don't apply last year's framework to this year's brief. We ask better questions, sit with complexity, and build something that fits.

That's not something big consultancies can promise. We can.
